Position: JUNIOR DATA ENGINEER

Location: Washington, DC or Remote 

FLSA Classification: Full-time; Exempt

Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000 annually 

Bonus Range (even-numbered years only): $20,000-$40,000

Job Description

The Junior Data Engineer will report to the Vice President, Data & Analytics. The position will work with the data team, client-facing staff, vendors, and contractors to support internal tool maintenance and product development. Deliver’s data team is only 3 years old, so this position will have a heavy focus on building new tools/products and improving the robustness of our workflows. An ideal candidate will bring excellent creative problem-solving skills to the team!   

Job Responsibilities  

  • Develop internal web- and python-based business efficiency tools.

  • Build, customize, and automate/integrate AI tools into existing workflows and implementation.

  • Assist in debugging and maintaining our current custom, internal product suite.

  • Build and maintain data pipelines using SQL, DBT, Python, and Google Cloud Infrastructure.

  • Develop readable, maintainable code with clear comments and documentation.

  • Other duties, as needed, in support of the overall goals and initiatives of the data team.

Job requirements

Qualifications 

  • 1-3 years of practical, working experience with web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) evidenced through real-world projects, internships, academic work or prior roles.

  • 1-3 years of practical, working experience with Python, demonstrated through development, scripting, automation, data work, or project-based use.

  • Strong ability to use SQL

  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and experience working with Google cloud systems

  • Familiarity in working with GitHub/version control systems

  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn and explore, AI technologies

  • Experience with Google Suite and Excel

  • Ability to learn or figure out new systems quickly

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively across different mediums, both internally within a team setting and externally with clients and other stakeholders 

  • Strong proactive, creative problem-solving skills 

  • Willingness to work campaign-style hours as necessary (i.e., on call)

Additional Qualifications (Not Required):

  • Familiarity and/or experience using DBT

  • Familiarity using SQL in Google Big Query

  • Knowledge of Algorithms
